Jean
Harkin , managing partner at Harkin Lloyd Solicitors has been
nominated for the prestigious title of Managing Partner of The
Year at the forthcoming Law Society event to be held on the 9th
June 2007.
Nominations were received from many local firms and an
independent panel of judges had the task of sifting through
entries. Jean Harkin has been short listed as well as Helen
Broughton, former Liverpool Law Society President who works at
Moorcroft’s solicitors and Robert Askey of Palmyra Chambers.
Jean
founded Harkin Lloyd with her business partner Rachel Lloyd in
October 2004. Jean heads the Industrial Disease department which
is regarded as one of the top asbestos disease departments in
the North West.
As
well as the many legal services that Harkin Lloyd currently
provide Jean is keen to introduce another commercial element
into the practice and is implementing an Intellectual Property
department. Jean is adamant that the high level of client care
that Harkin Lloyd offer their current client base can be rolled
out into the commercial world and is excited about the launch of
the firm’s new department.
As
well as being managing partner Jean is also an active member in
the Association of Women Solicitors and has only recently stood
down from her position as Chair.
In
response to the nomination Jean added.
“Harkin Lloyd’s firm
belief is that the client comes first and we have proved that
clients react well to our ethos and this has been seen by our
growth. Being managing partner and watching the practice
flourish is a great achievement to me and I am delighted that
the panel has short listed me for such a prestigious award. It
is however a joint effort and I have the full support of Rachel
Lloyd, founding partner”
The
winner will be announced at the Law Society Dinner being held on
9th June 2007
